4 Fun Days Out in Tenerife

Tenerife is the perfect location for fun holiday jammed packed with activities without the stress of planning or organising anything yourself! One of my favourite things about our stay here was the ease of booking so many amazing trips and tours. Don't get me wrong, I love planning out some adventures and exploring places off the beaten track, but I also love having a relaxing holiday with any activity you want to do right at your fingertips. You can book trips and buy tickets to the main attractions from hotels and from booking agent shops that are everywhere on the sea front. All the tours will usually pick you up from your hotel and there are free buses running to the major attractions so it's just so easy to do whatever you fancy doing! You can go jet skiing, surfing, paragliding, scuba diving, dolphin watching, on boat rides, jeep safaris, horse safaris, to water parks and day trips to see a volcano or the beautiful coastline. Fancy seeing some animals? Tenerife has the Jungle Park, Loro Park, Monkey Park and a Camel Park! There centainly is plenty of choice and something to suit everyone.

So without further ado, here are my four favourite days out I had when I was in Tenerife!

1. Siam Park

Siam Park is a Thai themed water park with some of the most incredible rides in the world. One of its many rides is called "The Tower of Power" which has a almost vertical slide which shoots you through a tunnel in a tank full of sharks. It also a huuge wave pool with the largest man-made waves in the world! Its other rides include "The Dragon", "Vulcano" and "The Mekong Rapids". We had such a fun and adrenaline filled day here so it's definitely worth a visit. We also spent a day at Aqualand, Tenerife's other water park, which was fun but didn't even come close to Siam Park. So if you only have time for one I'd definitely recommend this one.

2. Jet Skiing around the cliffs of Los Gigantes

This was 100% my favourite day in Tenerife and also up there in my top experiences ever! We were picked up from our hotel and taken on a 40 minute drive to the beautiful town of Los Gigantes. We were given a brief introduction and some life jackets before we jumped on a speed boat with a lovely Spanish man who knew hardly any English. He took us out to the jet skis and once we'd climbed on he told us "This one stop, this one go. Follow me!" And then he sped off! So we had no choice but to speed off after him!

Neither of use had ever jet skied before so the speed and freedom was an amazing experience in itself. We were out on the water for about 2 and a half hours and were taken all along the stunning cliffs and into the crazy caves of Los Gigantes. The tour also included a snorkel stop where we got to jump off our Jet Ski and spot some gorgeous, colourful fish. But what made our day even more amazing wa our incredible good luck. 1. It was a gorgeous, sunny day which made the scenery around us even more beautiful. 2. We had the tour all to ourselves! Usually there are up to eight people on each Jet Skiing tour but the other couple that had been booked on the same tour as us were ill meaning we got a private tour! (Good luck for us, not so much for them...) 3. We got up close and personal with dolphins! We followed our guide out into some open water where he cut his engine and signalled for us to do the same and within a few seconds we saw a dolphin jump out of the water. Before long we were joined by four or five dolphins jumping and diving through the water all around us and swimming right underneath our jet ski. It was absolutely incredible!

3. Jungle Park

The Jungle Park is a zoo and botanical park full of exotic birds, monkeys, chimpanzees, orangutans, sea lions and many more. They have exotic bird, bird of prey and sea lion shows on every day which are incredible to watch. You can see amazing birds in free flight all around you and if you get  handful of bird seed they will come and eat right out of your hand! We had such a fun, chilled out day here. There is also a great restaurant here which I recommend eating at, it overlooks the sea lions and the food was incredible!

4. Mount Teide Day Trip

Another amazing day out on the island is a day trip to Mount Teide. Mount Teide is an active volcano which last erupted in 1909 and is the highest peak in Spain at 12,198 ft. As neither of us had ever visited a volcano before we jumped at the opportunity to book a day trip here and it did not disappoint. I found it so interesting learning about the volcano and it's history and all the volcanic rock was incredible!

We got picked up by a coach and taken on scenic, windy roads through the hills until we reached Teide National Park. We then got out to have a wander and take some pictures and our guide showed us the path of the most recent lava flow from the volcano. Our trip also included the cable car which takes you most of the way up the the mountain. From there you can the  walk the last 200m to the summit if you have a permit. If you don't have a permit you can walk round the summit through the volcanic rock and enjoy the amazing views and crazy rock shapes. From here your can look across the Teide National Park and also to the sea where you can see some of the other Canary Islands.

  1. Yes these are the most attractive and beautiful places in Tenerife. Tenerife is the best lovely place. Every year, many people come to Tenerife for enjoying the beauty of this place. Paragliding in Tenerife is another attraction for travellers. The green and soothing field when you see from a particular height, looks just amazing and beautiful.
